Ace track cyclist Matthee suspended for a year

National track cyclist Maroesjka Matthee has been suspended for a year after being found guilty of an anti-doping rule violation.
Cycling South Africa said an in-competition test had been conducted on Matthee on 8 August this year and confirmed the presence of the stimulant, pseudoephedrine.
Matthee, 27, competed for South Africa at the 2015 UCI World Championships in France.
The SAIDS Independent Doping Hearing Panel imposed a period of ineligibility of one year, commencing on 2 October this year. Matthee is therefore suspended and prohibited from competing and administering in the sport of cycling as well as in any other sport in South Africa and internationally until 1 October 2017.
This decision may be appealed by Matthee, the UCI and SAIDS.
Cycling South Africa respects the independence of the SAIDS process and will respect the outcome. Cycling SA further reiterates its zero-tolerance approach to doping in sport and will continue working with SAIDS in the promotion of a drug-free sport via its awareness and extensive testing programmes.
