Klaasen’s best Wimbledon ever ends in semi-finals

By Mark Etheridge

Raven Klaasen’s best Wimbledon tournament to date came to an end in London on Thursday.
The South African and US partner Rajeev Ram went out in the doubles semi-final. It took three hours and one minute of action before the French duo of Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin triumphed in four sets, 7-5 6-4 5-7 7-6 (5).
Eleventh seeds Klaasen and Ram won the aces battle 6-4 but slipped up in the double-faults department with five to the Frenchmen’s one.
Service statistics were pretty even but Klaasen and Ram made more unforced errors.
It’s by far Klaasen’s best Wimbledon to date, his previous best being 2014 when he made it to the third round.
A lucrative tournament two with a semi-finalist berth being rewarded to the tune of £88,000 to the pair.
