Le Clos wraps up World Cup campaign as champion

South Africa’s Olympic gold medal-winner Chad Le Clos and Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu were the overall winners of the FINA Swimming World Cup which ended in Singapore on Sunday.
The official FINA website reports that the winners sparkled champagne to celebrate their victory and the prize money of $100 000.
On Sunday, Hosszu added two more gold medals to her tally, bringing her total to an unprecedented 51 gold, a kind of world record in itself.
She also won six silver and nine bronze – 66 medals overall.
Le Clos won one more gold, in the 100-metre butterfly, to take his tally to 27 in all.
On Sunday, he again went after a world record, but just missed it. ‘It was a good race and I did it strategically. I think I’ll only get better by the end of the year.
‘I was confident today and I believe I can get a world record (at the upcoming FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha).
‘Singapore has always been a good place to race for me,’ said Le Clos.
