More honours for Banyana’s Jane

Jane

Banana Banyana national women’s football vice-captain (and sometimes captain) Refiloe Jane was rewarded for her efforts this week.

Jane was named the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) 2017 Sportswoman of the Year and presented with a trophy.

More than anything, this highlights the amazing work the enterprising midfielder has done this year, which led to her captaining the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana to Cosafa Cup glory in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe last month.

Just last month, she was also one of the players who were key as TUT Ladies claimed this year’s edition of the Varsity Cup, making it two massive trophies in one month.

The latest accolade adds to the player’s glittering CV that boasts appearances at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 African Women’s Championships that were held in Namibia.

As if that’s not enough, the 25-year-old is currently in camp with Banyana Banyana preparing for what is expected to be an extremely beneficial friendly match against Burkina Faso set to take place at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

She’s among the players expected to play an important role in the Desiree Ellis-coached outfit.
