Team SA finished their 2022 World Games campaign in Birmingham, Alabama, with the duathlon mixed relay being the final event contested. Natalie Sterk and Dylan Kruger finished 12th behind gold medallists France to wrap things up.
Chef de mission for Team SA, Kim Pople, felt it was a job well done for all concerned. “I couldn’t have asked more from the athletes and officials these past two weeks,” she said. “We ended up with the one medal, a gold by Andy Birkett in the men’s canoeing, and it was a trip full of positives. Overall, it was an incredible experience. We had many discussions within the team and the athletes and officials were great ambassadors on and off the field of play.
“I am proud of the way the athletes conducted themselves and it was an incredible experience. We are really grateful to have been able to represent South Africa.”
