South African have a full house of boats into semi-finals at the World Rowing Championshps in Chungju, Korea, writes Mark Etheridge.
That’s after the lightweight men’s fours won their repechage on Wednesday.
After Tuesday’s action, the team had four boats into semi’s, two of them directly and the other two via the repechage route.
“Great, we have all five of our boats in the semi-finals, now to push on for more,” said national coach Roger Barrow from Korea.
The men’s fours, who won gold at the London Olympics last year, struggled a bit on Tuesday with James Thompson being one of many hit by a stomach bug. They are also adapting to Mike Voerman replacing Matthew Brittain temporarily in the gold medal-winning combo.
“The guys were much better in the rep but we still need more speed from them to get into the A Final but we’re on the right track ÔÇô tomorrow is another day,” said Barrow.
