Lady luck turned her back on the KwaZulu-Natal teams at last weekend’s 2017 Champions Cup hosted by Volleyball South Africa (VSA) for the country's elite men and women's teams at the University of Kwa-Zulu-Natal's Westville Campus Sports Centre.

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) romped to yet another Varsity Beach Volleyball title when they beat Tuks 44-25 in the final. UWC finished the tournament unbeaten on their home turf, claiming their third title on the bounce.

The Netherlands and Czech Republic were the respective men's and women's winners at the FIVB Mangaung Open in Bloemfontein.
