Natalie du Toit continued to make waves on the medals table at the IPC World Swimming Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands on Friday.
Due largely to her contributions, Team South Africa reached double figures on the penultimate day of the competition with another two more medals.
The team now have 10 medals after another gold and silver medal were added to the tally.
Du Toit, a leg amputee after a motor scooter accident,  swam to her seventh medal of the championships, and her fifth gold, when she won the 100-metre backstroke final in the S9 category. She clocked a time of 1min 09.83sec and had the satisfaction of setting an SA record in the process.
Our other medal went to visually impaired Charl Bouwer who took silver in the men’s 100m freestyle final (S13). Like Du Toit his swim was also a national record (53.38sec).
Bouwer also set an SA record in the S13 100m backstroke final with an effort of 1:02.61 which gave him fourth position.
Best of the rest in action on Friday night were Shireen Sapiro and Craig Groenewald who both got fourth places.
Team SA now have five golds, four silvers and a bronze to boast.
Du Toit and Tiaan Du Plessis are in action in the open water 5km swim on Saturday, the last event before the closing ceremony.
