Six of the bestÔǪ that’s the story of veteran South African fencer Marguerite Langton, writes Mark Etheridge.
Langton won a bronze medal at the recent World Veteran’s Fencing Championships that were contested in Croatia.
Now 66 years of age, the Gauteng fencer (based at Tyshler Fencing School in Randburg) won her medal in the women’s sabre event.
Making it all the more notable, was that this is the sixth medal that the retired radiologist has won. On each occasion that she has competed at Veteran World Championships she’s won a medal.
Her tally now stands at three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Langton has now turned supporter and is currently with the senior team in Catania, Italy for Senior World Championships.
