Bianca Meyer claimed her second bronze medal of the Monaco leg of the Mare Nostrum Series as the final day came to a close on Sunday.

Meyer’s time of 2min 20.05sec in the 200 metre Individual Medley secured her place on the medal podium behind Britain’s Hannah Miley, who claimed the gold in 2:12.69 and Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry, now based in Johannesburg, who walked away with the silver in 2:12.91

Neil Versfeld managed a sixth place finish in the 100m breaststroke when he clocked 1:02.41 and in the women’s 200m breaststroke, Ronwyn Roper finished 6th in 2:31.45 while Jessica Liss came in 8th with a time of 2:35.44.

In the 400m freestyle, Michelle Weber and Natasha de Vos finished fourth and sixth in 4:18.94 and 4:20.37 respectively while Dylan Bosch came in seventh in the 100m butterfly with a time of 55.14.

Youngsters Michael Meyer (2:06.31) and Zaahir Gamiet (2:12.69) ended fifth and seven in the 200m backstroke.

The South African swimming team’s next competition will be the International Setti Colli in Rom from 17-19 June.
