UNDER-19 CRICKET WORLD CUP
South Africa continued their unbeaten run at the Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup when they hammered Samoa by 10 wickets in their match in Kuching, Malaysia.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first and ripped through the Samoan order, bowling them out for just 16 runs in 9.1 overs. Extras (6) was top scorer. Opening bowler Nthasbiseng Nini won player of the match for her three wickets for four runs, while Fay Cowling took 2-4, Kayla Reyneke 2-5 and Seshnie Naidu 2-0.
In reply, Simone Lourens (6 runs off 6 balls) and Jemma Botha (6 runs off 5 balls) knocked off the target in 10 balls (there were five wides) to win by 10 wickets with 110 balls remaining and stay top of Group C. In the group, Nigeria stunned New Zealand.

Connor Doig, the world No 1635, has been beaten by Ognjen Milic, of Serbia, in the first round of the boys singles at the Australian Open. The South African lost the battle of the 17-year-olds 6-3 6-2. Doig then teamed up with Pedro Albuquerque Dietriich of Brazil in the opening round of the boys doubles, but lost 6-4 6-4 to the No7 seeds.
