Our top-ranked doubles tennis player, Wesley Moodie has advanced to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters in Ohio, US.
Ranked 25th in the world doubles rankings, Moodie is using the Masters as a tune-up to the US Open at Flushing Meadows at the end of the month and then our crucial Davis Cup clash against Germany in Stuttgart next month.
In his latest triumph, Moodie and big Belgian partner DIck Norman accounted for the US/Bahamas combination of Mardy Fish and Mark Knowles.
They came through in three sets, 6-4 3-6 12-10 to set up a semi-final clash with the tournament’s second seeds, the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike.
Earlier in the tournament, Moodie and Norman toppled seventh seeds Jurgen Melzer of Austria and Philipp Petzschner of Austria
Tournament top seeds Daniel Nestor (CAN) and Nenad Zimonjic (SRB) exited the tournament in the second round.
