Moodie into quarters

Wes Moodie and Dick Norman moved into the quarter-finals of the Open Sud de France ATP Challenger tennis tournament in Montpellier, France on Wednesday.

The third seeded South African/Belgian combination beat the unseeded Spanish pair of Marcel Granollers and Albert Montanes in a tough three-setter, before going through 4-6 6-1 10-4, writes Mark Etheridge.

Their victory means that they now come up against a potentially dangerous French duo of Gael Monfils and Josselin Ouanna in the quarter-final stages.

Monfils and Ouanna beat veteran campaigner Arnaud Clement and Nicolas Mahut in a two-set first round clash.

Also through to the next round are Australian Stephen Huss and England’s Ross Hutchins. It was with Huss that Moodie won the Wimbledon doubles title in 2005. Should Huss and Hutchins win their quarter-final they could well end up taking on Moodie and Norman.
