The third day of the CANA Zone IV Junior Water Polo Championships in Durban saw great performances from  South Africa and Egypt’s boys’ U18 sides, as they battled it out for a place in the 4th FINA World Junior Water Polo Championships.

The match ended in an exciting 4-4 draw, after both teams had won their earlier games at the Kings Park Aquatic Centre.

The South African U18 girls also celebrated victory against Zimbabwe, with a narrow 9-5 win, while the CANA Championships match between Zimbabwe’s U18B side and South Africa’s U16 team ended 16-5 to the home side.

In the remaining CANA Championships events, South Africa’s boys’ U17 selection beat their SA U16 counterparts 7-1, and also went on to beat Zimbabwe’s U18B side by 23 goals to two.

The FINA World Championships will take place in Szombathely, Hungary from 11-19 August, and the top two countries from the boys U18 section will qualify to compete, while only the top team from the girl’s U18 category will make the trip to Serbia for the girls event.
