Sifiso’s surprise SA visit

Beijing 2008 Olympics BMX finalist Sifiso Nhlapo is finding form as the World Championships in Pietermaritzburg at the end of July edge ever closer.

Norway based Nhlapo had time for a week’s break in South Africa before he prepares further in the United States.

His return coincided perfectly with the fourth and fifth rounds of the MTN BMX nationals held in Germiston and Skizo promptly won both rounds.

The local riders couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Skizo at the track but welcomed their hero with open arms. He had a great day riding with the local Elite riders and didn’t drop one lap the entire day, showing everyone that he is right on track leading up to World Champs, and well over the neck injury he suffered in training last year.

Said Nhlapo: “I enjoyed racing back at home again and was really surprised as to the turn out both in riders and supporters. There are a lot of riders that have really lifted their game leading into World Champs which is great to see as it is at home and we can show off some of the younger talent to SA.

“This next month for me is crucial with final prep for Worlds so I can get on the podium for the home crowd”
Results for the weekend were: 1 Sifiso Nhlapo, 2 Dean Holdstock, 3 Kane Herbert
