Team SA were in action across seven sporting disciplines on day four of the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, 10 October. This is how they fared.

ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
Women’s balance beam, qualification: Lisa Conradie finished 30th with a total of 9.900
Men’s horizontal bar, qualification: Ruan Lange finished 18th with a total of 12.066

RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Individual all-round, qualification subdivision 2: Azra Dewan finished 32nd after rotation four with a total of 43.500

GOLF
Women’s individual strokeplay: Kaiyuree Moodley shot a second round 81, 11 over par, to add to her opening 77 for a 36-hole total of 156, for tie-27th. Australia’s Kim Grace leads on level par.
Men’s individual strokeplay: Cole Stevens shot a second round 72 to add to his opening 75 to lie in 10th spot after 36 holes.

HOCKEY
Women preliminary round, Pool A: South Africa vs Austria. Two goals from Kayla de Waal helped Team SA beat Austria 2-1 and win their third match out of four. The score had been 1-1 at half-time.

SAILING
Women’s IKA twin tip racing kiteboarding: Dorothy Gouws finished 10th with 12 points in race four and in race five she finished 11th with 12 points. Races six and seven were rescheduled to Thursday.

ROWING
Junior men’s single sculls, semi-final C/D 2: Liam Smit finished second in 1:37.44. He competed in the C final where he finished third in 1:40.34 and out of the medals.
Junior women’s single sculls, semi-final C/D 2: Katherine Williams finished third in 1min 51.51sec. She finished 15th overall.

SWIMMING
Men’s 50m butterfly: Hendrick Duvenhage finished fifth in his heat in 25.54, which placed him 34th overall and he failed to reach the semi-finals.
Women’s 50m backstroke: Mariella Venter finished sixth in her heat in 30.15, which placed her 23rd overall and she failed to reach the semi-finals.
Men’s 200m breaststroke: Michael Houlie finished eighth in his heat in 2min 26.21, which placed him 26th overall and he failed to reach the final.
Women’s 200m freestyle: Kate Beavon finished fourth in her heat in 2:05.88, which placed her 25th overall and she failed to reach the final.
Women’s 200m freestyle: Dune Coetzee finished fifth in her heat in 2:02.83, which placed her 14th overall and she failed to reach the final.
Men’s 4x100m medley relay: Team SA (Hendrik Duvenhage, Michael Houlie, Ethan du Preez and Gabriel Nortje) finished seventh in the final in 3:34.90. Russia won the gold.
