It’s the Blitzboks v archrivals Fiji in Sunday’s Cape Town Sevens quarter-finals!
That’s after South Africa downed fellow African side Kenya 26-7 in the final action of the day at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
Earlier they’d beaten Russia and France in Pool A action and ended the day unbeaten and on song as they attempt to build on last week’s success at the Dubai Sevens.
The Blitzboks scored first through Ruhan Nel after being put through by skipper Philip Snyman.
But Kenya clawed back with a strong try by Willy Ambaka, the first time the Kenyans had got into the host nation’s half.
With a minute to go in the first half it was ex-skipper Kyle Brown who dotted down after a cynical Kenyan foul had seen the East Africans reduced to six men and the halftime was reached with a 14-7 advantage to the hosts.
The second half saw Snyman extending the lead to 21-7 after he rounded off an extended spell of broken play.
Fittingly it was Seabelo Senatla who had the final say of the day, as he scored his 201st Sevens try to make it 26-7.
South Africa will be looking to build on their unbeaten run, although they’ll know there’s still room for improvement, at 12.04pm on Sunday.
