South Africa’s top young judoka will be heading for Europe on 4 August.

The occasion is the first cadet world championships and will take place in Budapest, Hungary from 6-9 August.

Venue is the Papp Lasio Sport Arena and the tournament is for 15-16 year-olds.

It’s a vital tournament as it’s the only qualifier for the Youth Olympics in 2010.

Because the players are still cadets, the fights have all been shortened to attain the maximum potential from the youngsters. Fights will all last four mintues with a two-minute golden score.

The draw sheet will be run on an elimination system with repecharge starting at the quarter-finals.
