Banyana Banyana caretaker coach Joseph Mkhonza and his technical staff will be at the Sasol League Road Show at the Phillipi stadium near Cape Town on Saturday, in a bid to identify more talent to add depth to the national squads.
The day’s programme includes much anticipated Sasol League matches with the 3pm kick-off encounter between second-on the-log Spurs WFC and fourth-placed Dangerous Heroes expected to attract much attention.
Spurs, coached by former Banyana Banyana captain Desiree Ellis, are on 51 points from 19 matches, but have a game in hand over log-leaders Cape Town Roses who occupy top spot on 60 points. The earlier match (1pm kick-off), will see Milano taking on the University of the Western Cape FC.
Apart from witnessing the talent on offer during these Sasol League matches, Mkhonza and his fellow coaches will conduct a coaches workshop at the venue at 9am. Each of the Sasol League clubs is invited to send their coaches to be addressed by the Banyana Banyana coaches on important aspects of coaching.
With each of the 16 Sasol League clubs in the provinces invited to send six of their players to the Players’ Trials session from 10am to noon, the Banyana Banyana coaches will have an opportunity to look for new talent that can be added to the shortlist for possible future national squad call-ups.
Stadium gates open at noon with the first 300 spectators to enter the venue, each set to receive Sasol merchandise in the form of a Sasol League t-shirt and cap.
