Top seeds Nik Scholtz and Chanel Simmonds maintained their good form to advance to the semi-finals of the Digicall Futures 3 tennis tournament in Stellenbosch on Friday.
All matches are played at the Coetzenburg courts of the Stellenbosch University and the South African duo reached the semi-final for the third week in a row. They both also won the first tournament, the Futures 1.
Scholtz beat Jaime Pulgar-Garcia from Spain 6-4 6-3 and will now face Benjamin Lock from Zimbabwe in the next round.
Fourth seeded Lock had a fiercely contested match against sixth seed George von Massow from Germany and won 7-5 7-6.
Last week’s champion Frenchman Leny Mitjana will face Australian Thomas Fancutt who eliminated second seed Pawell Cais 6-2 5-7 6-3.

Simmonds will face Switzerland’s Leonie Kung for a place in the final after the top seed beat Germany’s Natalia Siedliska in straight sets, 6-4 6-3.
She made the main draw as a lucky loser and beat last week’s champion, but France’s Camille Sireix’s luck came to an end in the quarter-final when the feisty Swiss Nina Stadler beat her 3-6 6-4 6-0.
Stadler will now face Lou Adler from France.
