Team SA were involved in seven different sporting codes on Tuesday at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago. They started the day with five medals – three gold and two silver. They added to that with golds from Alicia Khunou, Henru Lamberts and Daniel Molobela, silver from Temoso Masikane and bronze from the men’s rugby sevens, and swimmers Jarden Eaton and Kian Keylock. Here is a list of how they fared.

Women’s discus, final: Alicia Khunou won GOLD with a final throw of 49.53m
Men’s long jump, final: Temoso Masikane won SILVER with a jump of 7.51m
Men’s shot put, final: Hencu Lamberts, the discus silver medallist, won GOLD in a new CYG record distance of 20.17m
Men’s discus, F42-44/F61-64, final: Daniel Molobela won GOLD with a throw of 26.34m, while Yamkela Ntlanti placed sixth with a throw of 20.69m
Women’s 400m, final: Colene Scheepers finished sixth in 55.69sec
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Men’s quarter-finals: Jayden Cupido and Deloshen Valaitham lost 2-0 against Alexis Savvidas and Anninos Chrysosotomou of Cyprus (21-12, 21-12)
CYCLING
Women’s points race, final: Jessie Munton and Anya du Plessis finished with 0 points

South Africa 10 Fiji 17: South Africa needed to beat Fiji to reach the final, having won three and lost one of their first four matches. The score was 5-5 at half-time. They will take part in the bronze medal match against Canada later today. Try scorers: Gino Cupido, James Nero
Bronze medal game: South Africa had beaten Canada 38-0 in the group stages and were always going to be favourites to win this match. They did so in style, again winning without conceding a point – 52-0 BRONZE

Women’s 100m breaststroke, heat 3: Simone Moll finished second in 1min 11.23sec to qualify fourth fastest for the final

Mixed 4x100m freestyle, heat 1: Team SA finished second behind Scotland in 3:42.59 and qualified for the final

TRIATHLON
Mixed Team Relay Super Sprint, final: South Africa (Kadence Ribbink and Alessandro Fanicchi finished in sixth position in 43min 54sec. Australia won gold with Scotland and Jersey claiming silver and bronze.
