Team SA went into Saturday’s action at the World University Games in Germany with a total of 16 medals. The two stars of the squad so far have been swimmer Pieter Coetze and athlete Bayanda Walaza, both who have won double gold. Swimming and athletics had both won eight medals heading into day 10.

Men’s half-marathon, final: Phemelo Ntoe did not finish the race, while Katlegio Madiope finished 27th with a personal best 1:07:21, Lehlolonolo Lusiti was 29th with a personal best 1:09:37 and Letsepa Maduma 42nd with a time of 1:09:54
Men’s 800m, semi-final: Christopher Swart was 6th in his heat in 1:49.73 for 16th overall and he missed out on a place in the final
Men’s 4x400m relay, heats: Team SA did not start
Women’s high jump, final: Kristi Snyman.finished joint 4th with a best height of 1.84m
Women’s 4x400m relay, heats: Team SA qualified 6th for the final with a time of 3:47.84
BRONZE! Women’s javelin, final: Jana van Schalkwyk had a best throw of 45.73m which earned her the bronze medal
Women’s 4x100m relay, heats: Team SA was DQ’d
ROWING
Men’s pair, semi-final A/B: Phumelele Tshabalala and Jordan Craig were 6th in their semi-final in 7:04.60 and progressed to the B final
Men’s four, semi-final A/B: Robert Hirschson, Brian Thomson, Merwe Engelbrecht and Ethros Smith were 4th in their semi-final in 6:24.24 and progressed to the B final
Men’s four, B final: Robert Hirschson, Brian Thomson, Merwe Engelbrecht and Ethros Smith finished 3rd in 6:21.84, which was 1.21sec behind the United States
Women’s pair, semi-final A/B: Courtney Westley and Catherine Williams won their semi-final in 7:30.74 and progressed to the A final
