SA at the World University Games: GOLD for Coetze

Pieter Coetze broke the World University Games record for the second time in two swims when he secured gold in the men’s 100n backstroke in the pool on Saturday night. Lara van Niekerk won silver in the women’s 50m breaststroke, while Simone Moll was fourth in that final. Elsewhere, Olivia Nel finished fourth in the women’s 100m freestyle final and the mixed 4x100m medley team won bronze.

Women’s 100m freestyle, final: Olivia Nel finished 4th in 54.32, just 0.02 seconds outside of the medals
