Sates takes silver after doubling up on gold in Berlin

Matthew Sates won silver in the men’s 400m medley to go with his gold medals in the men’s 200m individual medley and the 200m butterfly events at the Swimming World Cup meet in Berlin.

Sates was incredibly close to a third gold medal, clocking in a time of 4:13.61, only 0.02 of a second slower than Australian Brendon Smith who clocked 4:13.59 to take gold in the 400m medley on Sunday.

On Saturday, Sates clocked in a time of 1:58.01 to secure gold in the 200m medley and only 35 minutes later, sailed in at 1:55.87 to take gold in the 200m butterfly.
