Bolt pulls out of race

Triple Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt has pulled out of a race this weekend after a car accident in Jamaica.

Bolt, 22, overturned his luxury BMW into a ditch and was taken to hospital where he had thorns removed from his foot, after stepped on them as he got out of the car.

As a precaution he will not now race in Saturday’s Jamaica International Invitational.

Bolt won gold in the men’s 100m and 200m at Beijing in record times as well as the 4x100m relay.

‘We will continue to monitor his progress over the next few days,’said Bolt’s agent Ricky Simms. It’s too early to say if this will have any impact on his training and racing programme in the next few weeks.’

Bolt is set to run a 150m street race in Manchester on 17 May.
