Back-to-back wins in Egypt mean that Lloyd Harris is now South Africa’s second-highest ranked singles player.
The 19-year-old Capetonian has risen 33 spots after his wins at the two $10,000 Futures tournaments at the Soho Square club in Sharm el Sheikh during the last two weeks.
He now slots in at No 343 in the world rankings, albeit a long way below Kevin Anderson’s 48th spot.
It’s not Harris’s highest rankings, though – in March this year he got up to No 310.
A member of Team South Africa at the Youth Olympic Games two years ago, the lanky Harris (standing 1.93 metres tall) served up a total of 57 aces in the two Egypt tournaments.
He was seeded second and first respectively and lost only one set during the 10 matches he played.
