Fresh from their Davis Cup Euro/Africa Group victory in Denmark at the weekend, South Africa have been presented with their new challenge.
After beating Denmark 3-1 in Aarhus, the KIA SA team earned promotion to Group 1.
That saw them go into the 2018 draw, which took place on Wednesday at the BNP Paribas head offices in London.
And captain Marcos Ondruska’s men were drawn to play the winner of the outstanding Israel vs Romania tie in February next year.
The Israel/Romania tie was delayed due to political factors, and the unseeded South Africans will have to wait until next month before they know which challenge requires preparing.
Should their opponents be Israel, the tie will be played at home. But if Romania beat Israel, then it’s an away fixture.
