With just under four weeks to go, cyclists and organisers alike are gearing up with anticipation for what is said to be one of the most exciting events on the South African cycling calendar this year.
The 2017 SA National Road Championships will take place at Florida Farm Stall in Wellington in the Western Cape from 7-12 February.
The respected event crowns the national champion in each chosen discipline, for their respective genders and age groups.
Each category from (and including) Junior, under-23 and Elite, all the way through to Masters categories between the ages of 30 and 70+ stand a chance to earn the coveted SA National Champion Jersey.
In addition, and for the first time in South Africa, there will also be a podium for the U23 Women category in line with the new UCI category for women’s cycling.
The race headquarters, Florida Farm Stall, is located in Paarl – a great justification for a trip to the Cape so soon in the New Year.
In terms of accommodation, anywhere in the Paarl and Wellington region is recommended.
The Time Trial, Road Race and Para-cycling events will all be staged on the 12.7-kilometre ‘Lady Loch’ circuit during the six-day competition.
