The City of Durban Bid Committee is confident that its presentation to the Executive Board of the Commonwealth Federation on 2 March 2015 will leave no doubt in their minds that Durban is well suited to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

I am honoured and proud to be selected as an ambassador for the City of Durban’s Commonwealth Games Bid. I am extremely excited that Durban is bidding to host the Games in 2022. As an ambassador it will be my task to showcase Durban to nations of the Commonwealth and the world.

SASCOC joins the Olympic movement in mourning the sad loss of an instrumental leader in international sport, Mario Vázquez Raña. The former International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) President and publisher, died at the age of 82 after a long illness.
'We have noted Edmonton’s decision to withdraw from the bid process to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022. As the Bid Committee for the City of Durban, we are required to follow due process and lodge our bid with the Commonwealth Games Federation,' said Mr Tubby Reddy, CEO of SASCOC.

A team of four enthusiastic South Africans will be participating in the 11th edition of the Dream Programme in Korea from 25 January to 6 February 2015.
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee is currently engaged with Sport and Recreation South Africa, the Province of KwaZulu-Natal and the City of Durban in delivering a bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
